We have some fixed recipe preferences for every season, like in winter we prefer all kind of soups and bread , we welcome spring with varieties of sweets and savories, summers are for smoothies and fresh salads and monsoons call for all kind of fritters and croquets along with brewed coffee or tea. After months of scorching heat, we welcome clouds with plate full of begunies and pakoras. Thunderstorms and lightning drag us to the kitchen to prepare something really fast so that we can enjoy the drops of rain sitting by the window.
This year something very different happened in my kitchen,on a gloomy afternoon my mother in law asked me to taste a very beautiful leaf shape fried fritters, the outer part was crisp and inside the leaf was soft and tender.Though the taste was familiar I actually couldn't identify the leaf, well it was kumro patha (pumpkin leaf) and the dish is called kumro pathar bora or bhaja. I will not take any credit for this recipe as I only enjoyed eating them this monsoon but I thought of sharing this recipe with all of you because it taste wonderful and can be enjoyed with the rains.
