Recipe Of Aloo Matar Paneer

Paneer or cottage cheese becomes an obvious choice for a vegetarian meal and in India you will get a plethora of vegetarian dishes made with paneer/cottage cheese. One such dish is Aloo Matar Paneer. Here cubed Paneer is mixed with Potatoes and Green Peas along with some Indian masalas/spices and what you get is a delicious mix of flavors. This dish can be paired with any Indian bread like parantha, naan, rooti, poori and phulka. 



Recipe Of Aloo Matar Paneer

 Ingredients :

  • 2 Big Potatoes - cut into medium cubes
  • 1 Tomato - cut into slices
  •  1 Onion - Grated
  • Paneer /Cottage cheese - cut into cubes
  • Green Peas - 100 gms
  • Whole Garam Masala - 2 each
  • Ginger - grated 
  • Bay leaf - 2 to 3
  • Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tbs
  • Cumin Powder - 2 tbs
  • Coriander Powder - 1 tbs
  • Garam Masala Powder - 1 tbs
  • Salt -  According to taste
  • Sugar - 1/2 tbs
  •  Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tbs
  • Oil - 2 tbs

Method :

  • Heat oil in a pan,add cumin seeds and bay leaves,saute for a second and then add the whole garam masala. Waite till the aroma comes out,add the grated ginger and onion, fry for a while. Next add the tomatoes and the peas, stir well.
  • When your masala is ready add the cubed potatoes,mix well.
  • Next add the Paneer cubes and stir.
  • Allow the paneer and the potatoes to cook for a while.
  • Now for the gravy, start adding the powder masalas. After mixing well add 1/2 a cup of water.
  • Cover the pan and let it cook for 5 mints. Once the gravy get its  desired consistency,switch off the flame.
  • Don't forget to taste the seasoning,before you ladle the dish.

Note : I have not used any garlic and ghee for this recipe,but if you want you can. Normally the gravy consistency is little thick for this dish,but you can definitely adjust the consistency according to your wish.
